The Behavioral Science in Action (BeSA) Conference 2024—Advancing Health Interventions
The Behavioural Science in Action (BeSA) Conference invites researchers, practitioners, and experts from across the globe to engage in the exchange of insights, ideas, and collaborative endeavours within the realms of behavioural economics, behavioural intervention, and decision science. We seek to provide a platform for in-depth discussions centring around a specific theme each year that aims to foster collaboration between behavioural scientists, policy makers and industry practitioners. The 2024 BeSA Conference features in "Advancing Health Interventions," with a focus on exploring the intersection between behavioural science and health science.

Peking University Behavioral Science and Policy Intervention Research Center
Peking University Guanghua School of Management Behavioral Science in Action Team
In 2022, Peking University Guanghua School of Management established the Behavioral Science in Action Research Team (the "Interdisciplinary Team"), an interdisciplinary research team focusing on the policy and intervention applications of behavioral economics. In early 2024, the Peking University Behavioral Science and Policy Intervention Research Center (the "Research Center") was founded with the support of the Guanghua School of Management, aiming to create a world-class platform for policy and behavioral intervention.
Currently, over 40 scholars from various academic fields such as applied economics, finance, marketing, organization and strategic management, management science and information systems actively participate in the research activities of the Interdisciplinary Team and the Research Center. Among the participants are several recipients of national talent funding programs and editorial board members of top academic journals. To date, the team has accumulated numerous publications in leading journals.
In recent years, the integration of artificial intelligence technology with behavioral science has introduced new possibilities and unique opportunities for the development of economic policy design. The high penetration rate of digital networks in China provides unique conditions, advantages, and value for the application of behavioral interventions. The Research Center and the Interdisciplinary Team, adhering to the mission to "serve national strategies," have been exploring the application of behavioral intervention methods within the Chinese context. The team conducts extensive mechanism research through large-scale field experiments utilizing artificial intelligence and big data technology to explore cost-efficient means to promote positive individual behavioral changes.
Research by the Interdisciplinary Team and the Research Center mainly includes the design, trial, and evaluation of behaviorally informed economic policies, as well as the systematic exploration of key scientific issues related to the large-scale implementation of behavioral interventions in China. The team identifies five application areas where behavioral intervention shows promising potential in Chinese society: household finance, labor market, education and healthcare, sustainable development, and the digital economy. Through research in these areas, the team aims to produce a series of research outcomes and policy recommendations that serve national strategies, lead international academic research, and enhance social welfare.
Currently, the research team has received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China for the major project "Micro-Level Behavioral Research for Assisting Economic Policy Design," for its sub-project titled "Economic Policy Design Based on Behavioral Interventions."
